16 Hands School Incursion

The 16 Hands school incursion gives primary school children the chance to get up close and personal with a thoroughbred horse. For many children, it is their first encounter with these magnificent animals, and one they will always remember.

So-called because it is the average height of thoroughbred horses, 16 Hands is a community schools program supported by Racing Victoria (RV). Its main aim is to connect kids with horses. Our incursion engages children through an informative and interactive hour-long lesson.

The stars of the show are our horses, who interact with the children by modelling their teeth, showing off their hooves and providing all kids with the opportunity of getting up close and personal with a horse with each student being able to pat this unique animal.

The program is flexible, encourages participation and is aligned to the Victorian Curriculum.
